Introducing the Baja Designs XL40, a purpose-built light designed for motorcycles. Developed from the XL80 platform, the XL40 delivers a powerful single-light solution for technical trail riding. Its improved near-field beam pattern comes in a lower-draw 43.5W package producing 5,224 lumens. The result is XL80-level performance for most motorcycles equipped with lower-output OEM stators.

Derived from our powerhouse XL80, the XL40 carries forward the same trail-proven pedigree, offering 5,224 lumens of usable illumination to a wider range of motorcycles. Engineered specifically for dirt bikes equipped with lower-output OEM stators, the XL40 draws just 43.5W—making it the perfect high-performance lighting upgrade for riders who previously lacked a compatible premium option. Paired with our signature XL Trail Lens, the XL40 produces both a vertical and horizontal beam pattern with exceptional near-field and peripheral visibility. Designed for tight, technical singletrack, the Trail Lens redistributes center beam intensity to eliminate harsh hot spots, improving clarity through vertical transitions, quick elevation changes, and tight corners. The result is a smooth, evenly distributed field of light that inspires confidence in the most demanding terrain.

XL40 Features:

  • XL40 Paired with Trail Lens – Together, the XL40 and Trail Lens deliver enhanced nearfield and peripheral illumination for technical 1st–4th gear riding. The XL40 provides a smoother, more blended output when matched with the Trail Lens, which produces a balanced vertical and horizontal beam to improve visibility through rocky switchbacks, hill climbs, elevation changes, and tight technical turns.
  • More Compatibility – By re‑engineering the internals of the XL80 into a lower‑draw design, the XL40 works seamlessly with a wide range of motorcycles, especially those with smaller OEM stator outputs.
  • High/Low Beam Functionality – The XL40 features both high and low beam functions, with the low beam dimming output by around 25% of the high beam.
  • XL40 Replaces XL Sport/XL Pro in our moto lineup – All XL moto kits will now be available with a choice of either the XL40 or XL80, giving riders the ability to match their light to their bike, their stator output, and the terrain they ride.
