What’s it take to win the Baja 1000? Among many other things, a dialed lighting package is essential to take on the most grueling desert racing on the planet.

One thing we are extremely proud of at Baja Designs is that the lighting solutions we offer to you are the same exact ones that are used by Baja Champions, but buying our lights is only the first step in building out a lighting package to win in Baja.

Building out a lighting package for race applications is not just about “more”, you need to understand what each light is designed for and where the light needs to land in your field of view. This is why we’ve created Lighting Zones and Effective Lighting Score to help enthusiasts and racers alike understand the Science of building out a lighting solution for any application.

Once you understand the Science, your preference is the final deciding factor in your Lighting Package. Working with the Vildosola Racing team, of Tavo Vildosola and Jason McNeil, this is the lighting package we built out for their Trophy Truck to take on the 2024 Baja 1000.

The front grill is a 50” OnX6+, 4 XL80s and 6 XL Racers, illuminating (Zones 3, 4, 5)

For dust, the only amber on the truck is the XL80 with Wide Cornering lens and XL Pro with Combo lens in each headlight location (Zones 2 and 3)

On the A-pillar, for effective ditch lighting, XL Pros with Wide Cornering lenses (Zone 2)

On the roof, their main distance lighting is 12 XL Racers on an light actuator (Zone 5)

For marker lights, so their pit crews can identify them, they’re utilizing 2 S2 Sports and 1 S2 Pro with Green, Clear, and Red lenses
