Chad Massey’s 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor

Our good friend Chad Massey, better know as @sd_tremor on Instagram transformed his 2021 Ford Ranger into a capable trail machine that has taken him through the rugged trails of Imogene and Ophir pass in Colorado to tearing up the desert in Ocotillo Wells. Let’s take a look at what makes his Ranger Tremor Special. He started his build from the ground up with Fox 2.5 DSC suspension, DeaverHD leaf pack from APG to handle his overlanding gear, RH fab UCA and extended shackles to tie it all together. Finishing it off is a pair of MRW 305s with Toyo AT3s that allow him to roll over any terrain. He carefully crafted his Baja Designs light package for any adventure, starting with our Ford Ranger Squadron SAE fog pocket kit for illumination on road in inclement weather situations. LP6 Pros are mounted up front using SVC light bar mount, offering light through zones 2, 3 and 4 along with a pair of LP4s on SDHQ a-pillar brackets for that overlanding clout. Out back is a pair of S2 Pros in a chase light configuration. When asked about his choice of lights, Chad explained, “It's probably more lumens than I'll ever need, but hey, gotta have that slight overland clout, am I right?” A Decked drawer system keeps his gear tidy and a Trailgate helps Chad cook up some epic meals while at camp. His Xtrusion XTR1 and iKamper Skycamp mini 2.0 is perfect for nights under the stars. Maxtrax MKII and rotopax round out the expedition essentials for where the trail may lead Chad on his adventures. While Chad still has plenty he is looking to add to his Ford Ranger Tremor, there’s no doubt what he has built for himself so far has been a trustworthy rig that allows him to explore the world around him. “The fun doesn't stop here. There's a whole bunch more in the pipeline for this rig, so stick around and join me and my crew on our wild adventures!” You can follow Chad and his Ford Raptor Tremor on Instagram @sd_tremor Lights used on @sd_tremor Ford Ranger   Squadron-R SAE Fog Pocket Light Kit Ford 2019-On Ranger, 2021-On Bronco NOTE: w/ OEM Plastic Bumper/Capable Bumper $422.95 Elevate your Ford Ranger 2019-on or Ford Bronco 2021-on with the Baja Designs Squadron-R SAE LED fog light replacement kit, offering a road-legal...   LP6 Pro LED Auxiliary Light Pod Universal Starting At:$489.95 The LP6 Pro is a 6-inch powerhouse featuring a total of 11,225 total lumens and of 200-degree spread of usable LED light thanks to the dedicated...   LP4 Pro LED Auxiliary Light Pod Pair Universal $875.95 The LP4 is the smallest variant in the LP lineup but maintains all of the power and features of its siblings. Jason Scherer Ultra4 Ford Performance Bronco

Jason returned to the 2024 King of the Hammers again to claim his 4th crown of hammers. Behind every great racing driver is a great race car, and Jason's Ford Performance Bronco is no exception. It features a mid-engine 800+ Horsepower Ford Performance V8, sending power down to gear reduction independent suspension portal axles. It has custom Fox LiveValve suspension and BF Goodrich tires. "It is a Trophy Truck for the rocks," as Jason would describe, is a custom race car that utilizes components from a Trophy Truck and rock crawler. This would allow him to go fast in the desert and remain strong enough to crawl through the rocks the size of houses.  While King of the Hammers is run during the day, off-road lights are optional, but they will be crucial for races later in the year that are run entirely at night. The lighting setup is rather simple for this race.  On the A-Pillar are a pair of Baja Designs XL80s, which emit 9022 lumens each light emitting into Lighting Zone 1, 2, and 4, making it a great nearfield and mid-range high-intensity light. We always say no lighting package for racing is complete without XL80s, as it is one of our most versatile lights.    On the bumper of Jason's Bronco are a pair of Baja Designs LP6s on a quick-release bracket that slides in and out of the bumper. The LP6s has a 200-degree spread of usable LED light; thanks to dedicated Integrated Peripheral Technology (IPT), there are 11,225 total raw lumens emitting into lighting zones 1, 2, 3, and 4.  On the back is the Baja Designs RTL, which is necessary and required for all off-road racing organizations. While it not only serves as an identifier chase light for competitors to see you through the dust, it also operates as a brake light. There is even a white light function in the middle to operate as a work light to illuminate the rear of the Bronco.  Unfortunately, this year wasn't the race Jason wanted; it came down to a mechanical failure after leading a good part of the race. That is what racing is; you always have to expect the unexpected, take your losses, and keep moving on. Jason Sherer's determination and commitment to racing is unparalleled, and we know he will be back out there again to win the 2025 King of the Hammers. For now, he has some races to win in Ultra4 USA.

What Our Customers Are Saying

"Way better quality than what I’ve had before. The harness is well made and even has extra connectors. That’s awesome. Thank you!"

Richard Nuno

"Excellent light pattern and installed right into factory location no modification needed"

Mark DiCesare

"I have purchased several Baja Designs lights and bars for multiple vehicles. I think you guys have the best aftermarket light options on the market, and your customer service is the best! 40", 50", squadrons, RTL, this bar, etc."

Colton Cook

"I love all my Baja Designs products and expect only the best in both quality and output, and you guys deliver every time on all fronts. Keep up the great work!"

Brandon Smith

"Put the XL80 on my supermoto and it has been FANTASTIC. Currently have 2 LP6 units on order for my Road Glide. Absolutely love Baja Designs."

Javier Arreola

"I have a 20in on my truck and a 30in on my razor. Both are very bright and reliable. They are well built, and I think they will last a long time."

Kirk Wilkerson

"Great product. Light color is far easier on the eyes than previous products purchased. This Light will be put to the test in temperatures from +30*C to -45*C, rain, mud, snow & ice in the god forsaken oilfield land of Wabasca Alberta."

Daniel Szever

"Just got them mounted and they are SUPER BRIGHT!"

Kenneth Leake

"BD lights are the best I’ve seen from both a build and performance aspect. I have three ON-X light bars on my boat, and they have performed beyond expectations. Recently, I noticed that my 30" light bar was only illuminating one of four sections, and after contacting BD and troubleshooting the issue with the tech department, it was determined to be unserviceable. After presenting my original purchase receipt, a new light bar was sent out and delivered in a very short time period. I am excited to get this mounted and look forward to many more years of service with BD lights. Thank You."

Mark Rigsby

"Fantastic company and products. Highly rated. And your customer service is second to none!"

Bryon Mayo

"Love BD. Product is well made, and lights are bright. Packaging is great with extra work to conceal contents."

Jorge Araujo

"Best decision ever made. I do most of my writing at nighttime, so this has been a godsend."

Christian Tomblin

"Absolutely love these lights, I have 3 sets of Squadrons and they are amazing. Worth every penny"

Chris Randall
