Q: When do you charge my credit card?
A: We authorize your card when you place the order. This verifies that you have the credit available for your order. We charge your card when we ship the order. Please note that Debit cards (ATM cards with a CC logo) immediately place a hold on your funds when we authorize the order. The funds do not come out of your bank account until we ship the order, but you will not be able to access the funds while your bank has a hold on them. Please also note that you do not have the same consumer protection rights with a Debit card that you have with a regular Credit Card.

Q: Why are both the Pirelli size 140/80-18 MT 21 and the Dunlop size 120/90-18 D739 AT recommended for my XR 650R? Also why is it said that the 120/80-18 D606 is too narrow?
A: Different tire manufacturers measure from different locations on the tire. This answer dosen't explain why the two Dunlops are called a 120 width tire when they are obviously different widths. The D606 is more suited for a 350cc-450cc motorcycle where as the 120 D739 is suited to the open class bikes.

Q: Does Baja Designs have any organized rides for their customers?
A: There are not any on the calender but with more requests I'm sure we could arrange a customer appreciation ride.

Q: Are DOT legal tires required to make my bike street legal?
A: Yes, in most states they are required to make the motorcycle street legal. we carry DOT legal knobbies, that perform well on road, and off-road, and are still great for competition use too.

Q: How do I determine how to jet my bike for my upcoming trip to the mountains of Colorado?
A: Refer to our "Jetting Correction Factor Graph"

Q. If I buy your dual sport kit can I switch out the rear turn signals for flush mounted, and will you still charge me one price for both of them?
A: Yes we can swap out the rear turn signal for flush mounted signal at no additional charge just let us know at the time of your order.

Q: What is the difference between an "Off-Road" Light kit and a "Dual Sport Kit"?
A: The Off-Road Light Kit is for the person that wants to put a headlight and tail/brake light on his or her motorcycle that does not come stock with them. The Off-Road light kit is also a good choice for someone living in a state where the on-highway licensing process is not very strict. The Dual Sport Kit is a DOT legal kit with all the necessary components to meet most states on-highway licensing laws.

Q: When I order a Dual Sport Kit, can I get the flush mount turn signals instead of the normal turn signals? How much extra?
A: Yes, and there is no extra charge - just specify when ordering.

Q: Can I use the Dual Sport Kit from my old bike on my new one?
A: Note: First off, there are many factors and answers to this question. If you have any doubts, please call us at (800) 422-5292 to speak with a sales rep for your exact application. If your new motorcycle is the same model but a newer year, there is a good chance that your kit will work. If your new bike is a different model then you may need to get a different harness and use some of the components from your old kit. The Dual Sport Kit increases the value of your motorcycle so you would probably want to leave it on the bike you are selling and just get a new kit that is made for your new bike. You end up saving lots of time and extra hassle.

Q: Are mirrors included in our Dual Sport Kits?
A: No. We have two basic options for mirrors:
An Acerbis mirror for $18.45: This mirror is a good option if all you are concerned about is being legal, and not necessarily being able to fully focus on what is behind you.

Ken Sean mirror for $13.95: This mirror requires a mounting bracket to be purchased seperately. The Ken Sean mirror folds out of the way, and works very well at higher speeds.

Q: Are DOT legal tires required to make my bike street legal?
A: Yes, in most states they are required to make the motorcycle street legal. we carry DOT legal knobbies, that perform well on road, and off-road, and are still great for competition use too.

-Dual Sport Kit Speedometer-

Q: If I buy a new Digital speedometer what do I do about my OEM drive? Do you have a way to eliminate my stock Speedo drive?
A: The Trailtech digital speedometer includes a rubber cap to seal the drive mechanism on the axle once the cable has been removed. If you want remove this drive mechanism all together we offer a billet eliminator spacer for $19.95. Leaving the drive in place however will allow you the option to swap back and forth between speedo's if necessary.

-Dual Sport Kit Troubleshooting-

Q: Why does my light dim so much at low rpms?
A: If your light is dimming with rpm drop then you are probably running an AC system.
The bulb size is probably too high for the output of the stator. Go to a smaller wattage bulb and your light output will be better and more consistent.
Note: The bike description must be known for this question to be answered accurately. Dimming can happen for many reasons.

Q: Why do I keep blowing bulbs when I rev the bike up?
A: The AC voltage regulator is probably bad. Put a volt meter on the bulb and watch the voltage rise with rpms. If the voltage goes higher than about 12.5 volts and keeps climbing the you found your problem.
Again, the bike description must be known for this question to be answered accurately.

A. This varies based on the application. We can configure almost any headlight to HID - please call a technical representative to find out your exact needs. (800) 422-5292.
